Natalie Pendás is a coloratura soprano who is known for "her vocal beauty and agility, her engaging stage presence, and her thorough preparation and reliability." Ms. Pendás graduated and received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University under the guidance of Dr. Loraine Sims. There, she had the opportunity to coach with teachers Sandra Moon, Dr. Lori Bade, Robert Grayson, and Terry-Patrick Harris. Her opera role performances include Anne Egerman from Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, La Fée from Massenet’s Cendrillon, Eurydice in Philip Glass’s Orphée, Tebaldo from Don Carlo, and Clorinda from La Cenerentola. These performances were with the Turner-Fischer Center for Opera at LSU.
Natalie also received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2021 under the guidance of Marion Pratnicki and Dr. Marilyn Taylor. There, she performed the roles of Ottile in Manuel Garcia’s Le Cinesi (billed Le Inglesi) and was in the chorus of La Clemenza di Tito, Werther, and Bernstein’s Mass. Additionally, Ms. Pendás was hired by the Piedmont Opera Company to be in the chorus in Maria Stuarda and L’elisir d’amore.
As an award-winning soprano, Natalie has received multiple awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She was recently admitted into the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, was a finalist in the Mobile Opera Rose Scholarship Competition, and received multiple scholarships throughout her academic studies.
During her summers, Natalie has enjoyed studying abroad. In the summer of 2019, Natalie attended and was a scholarship recipient for the Patti & Allan Frost School of Music at Salzburg, Austria Vocal Summer Program. There, she worked with faculty members including Margaret Astrup, Robynne Redmon, Mary Schiller, François Germain, and Tatjana Meyer. There, she also attended daily German language classes and participated in masterclasses. She was featured in two masterclasses with Linda Watson and Therese Lindquist.
In the summer of 2018, she attended Si Parla, Si Canta Vocal Program in Urbania, Italy. For four weeks, she worked with well-renowned coaches including the director of the program Benton Hess, Nicole Cabell, Federico Sacchi, Jefferey Gall, Enza Ferrari, and Jennifer Johnston Cano. During that time, she attended daily advanced Italian language classes and participated in masterclasses and concerts.
Natalie is thrilled to announce that she will be traveling this summer to Sault Ste. Marie, MI to perform with Soo Opera Company. As a Young Artist, she is honored to make her Soo Opera Company debut performing one of her dreams roles, The Queen of the Night in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and perform in the ensemble of Carlisle Floyd's Susannah. She will be performing in other various concerts and masterclasses during her time in Michigan.
